THE FILM LAUNCHPAD
AN ONLINE INTENSIVE FOCUSED ON PULLING THE ELEMENTS TOGETHER TO MOVE YOUR PROJECT FROM SCRIPT TO MARKET-READY, AND TOWARDS GETTING INTO PRODUCTION
THE FILM LAUNCHPAD IS NOW IN SESSION
As an EP, producer, and consultant on independent films I see a lot of the same issues with early stage and completed projects over and over again….
Filmmakers are frustrated because they spend enormous resources making their films, only to find that once they’re finished the distribution options that exist severely undermine their expectations
Filmmakers unknowingly spend (or budget for) way more on their films than the market can support, and end up creating an untenable situation for themselves and investors in the process
Filmmakers spin their wheels for years failing to find financing because they haven’t created an investment-grade project and aren’t even sure what they means
To avoid these issues all-together I start with a clean slate, at the beginning of the process, and work methodically through the steps of putting the elements together one by one, doing things the right way and in the right order, approaching the right partners at the right time.
It’s like building blocks, each one adding more value to the chain until you ultimately have a project of real value to offer in the marketplace - the right package, at the right price.
I’ve spent the last seven years consulting with filmmakers and helping them get their films packaged, financed, and into production. What I’ve found is there’s a particular process to creating value in a project, and it starts by working a set of steps from script stage to being finance and market ready.
Until now I’ve been working through this process on a one-on-one basis with consulting clients however, I wanted to create a program where I can take a whole group of filmmakers through these steps over the course of a few months, and start the journey of building a value-added package for the marketplace.
This process we'll be working through helps attract producing partners, talent, sales agents, and financiers.
THE FILM LAUNCHPAD WILL HELP BRING YOUR PROJECTS TO LIFE
HOW IT WORKS
The goal is to guide you through the process of assembling your projects into investment-grade assets to attract financing and get into production. Throughout the months of January - March we'll be guiding you step-by-step through the process of moving your scripts to value-added, finance-ready projects with an eye toward getting into production in 2017.
Through a combination of online training and built in strategizing and feedback mechanisms, we’ll provide a comprehensive framework for putting together the necessary building blocks of a true value-added package for your project.
Each month is dedicated to guiding your through a different part of the process.
This all transpires online so no matter your location in the world you can participate in the program.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Filmmakers with completed scripts ready to send out to talent, potential partners and financiers.
*The goal of the Launchpad is to get momentum building for your project to leverage the upcoming film market, however, building a project of real value takes time and will be an ongoing process even after the program is finished.
TRAINING MODULES - throughout the program we'll provide weekly, step-by-step training and guidance to help you transform your projects into market-ready, high-value assets.
ACTION STEPS - these are specific action items to pursue on a weekly and monthly basis to keep you on track with the process with built-in accountability to make sure you stay on point.
ADVISORY + GROUP COACHING - you'll get personalized guidance strategizing and moving your projects forward via our interactive forums as well as the opportunity to learn from the experiences and successes of your fellow participants.
ONLINE CLASSROOM - A dedicated online hub for the Film Launchpad.
PROGRESS TRACKING - we'll monitor your progress online throughout the course, offering continuous feedback and guidance for moving forward every step of the way.
Through in-depth training, consistent action steps, and guidance we’ll focus on the necessary areas for bringing your projects to market.
The importance of your production team cannot be overstated. Investors are not just investing in your project, they are investing in the team you've assembled. The problem is, oftentimes filmmakers put together teams that actually work against them. We’ll show yo how to build a team that supports your project so it’s working for you, not against you.
- Finding and approaching potential collaborators
- The importance of building credibility by leveraging team members’ track records (even if you’re a first timer)
- The role of the EP
- How a line producer can help at this stage (hint: it’s more than just budget!)
- How tax credits fit into this part of the process
For all but the smallest of indie films, meaningful talent packaging is crucial. Attaching the right talent for your budget level will help separate your project from the slew of unfunded scripts out there. Let’s face it, a well-packaged project is key to attracting financing and distribution - period. We’ll guide you through the process of attaching talent (even without financing in place) and then approaching financing and distribution partners at the right time, with just enough attachments but not too many (it’s a delicate dance sometimes).
- Producer-initiated talent packaging and getting in the door
- Leveraging your and your team’s personal relationships to package talent
- Gauging talent’s worth to your project
- Utilizing and working with casting directors
- Vetting and approaching financiers
- Vetting and approaching possible distribution partners
- Getting pre-sales: who qualifies, what’s involved?
Film markets are also the best place, hands down, to get real marketplace feedback for your projects so you’re not shooting in the dark while also being able to present your projects directly to prospective financiers and distributors.
- why film markets matter and how to utilize them
- The collateral you’ll need to present your project
- Template for getting in front of financier and buyers at markets
- Engaging financiers and buyers
- How to utilize film markets even if you’re not attending (yes, this can work too)
- The value of marketplace feedback
- Applying marketplace feedback to strengthen your projects
- Following up after the market
- Action Steps to keep you on track and consistently moving forward
- Interactive Forums for personalized guidance each step of the way
- Baked-in Accountability for moving your projects forward and staying on track

We’ll also be helping you strategize your projects, giving feedback and guiding you as you work through the steps of putting your projects together.
What Participants Say...
"With the amount of information available for indie filmmakers, I find it important to spend time with those resources that focus on the most critical component of any production - getting it funded! Stacey Parks' Film Launchpad series (from Film Specific) does just that. Through a series of well timed and spaced webinars Stacey helps participants understand and build an investment-grade package to present to investors, sales agents, and distributors in the current, ever-changing market. Her no B.S. approach tells it like it is...what you may have, what you need, and what to realistically expect. The small investment of time and money on your part will help you package your film to attract the production dollars you need to make it."

You'll get as much out of the program as you are willing to put into it. You'll get a ton of real-world information including practical market intelligence, and individualized guidance, but your success in the program depends on your willingness to do the work that's required and the quality and viability of your projects.
No. We'll guide you in how to deliberately and consistently move your project forward and we'll provide a lot of guidance along the way but there are no guarantees. The Film Launchpad will provide you with a roadmap but you must do the work of putting your projects together.
